Karen R. Dix, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, August 27, 2004, at the Western Home Communities. She was born March 24, 1921, in Grundy Center, daughter of Rudolf and Louise Johnson Claassen. She married Fred E. Dix on September 8, 1945, in Waterloo. He died December 17, 1986. Mrs. Dix was a graduate of Grundy Center High School and was employed as a secretary for DX Oil Company, Waterloo Community School District, and the University of Northern Iowa, from which she retired. Survivors include: a stepson, Donald A. Dix of Naperville, Illinois; many stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, and stepgreatgreat-grandchildren; and a stepsister, Marcia Sego of Otho. Preceded in death by: a stepson, Fred E. Dix, Jr.; and a stepgrandson. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo.
