Karen W. Henriksen, 63, of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Allen Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born September 5, 1939, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Harvey I. and Wilma A. Handy Hansen. She married H. Milton Henriksen on December 19, 1959, in Cedar Falls. Mrs. Henriksen had been employed in the Business Office at the University of Northern Iowa from 1957 to 1972 and also had worked with her husband in the farming operation. She worked for Friendship Village from 1990 to 2002 and served as organist and secretary at Mount Hope United Methodist Church. Survived by: her husband; two daughters, Carmen Kay (Ryan) Nelson of Altoona and Cindy S. (Brian) Deuser of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; two granddaughters, Olivia Grace Nelson of Altoona and Maggie Nicole Deuser of Lake in the Hills; a nephew she raised, Staff Sgt. John G. Sanchez stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana, and currently serving in Iraq; her mother of Cedar Falls; and two sisters, Marylin Peterson of San Antonio, Texas, and Betty Hansen of Cedar Falls. Preceded in death by: her father. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with the family present from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation also for an hour before services Friday at the church.
