Roger Wardin

Maucker, President Date:  January 9, 1967 Word has been received of the unexpected death of Mr. Roger Wardin on January 7, 1967, at South Pasadena, Florida, where he and Mrs. Wardin had been vacationing.  Mr. Wardin held the position of Landscape Planner at State College of Iowa. He was born in Cedar Falls on May 28, 1901, and attended the public schools in this city.  He joined the Physical Plant staff at State College of Iowa in 1936 as Curator of the Greenhouse, became Foreman of Greenhouse and Gardens in 1938, Foreman of Campus Planning in 1941, and Landscape Planner in 1962. Mr. Wardin was a member of the American Forestry Association, Beta Beta Beta National Biological Fraternity, and the Iowa Golf Course Superintendents Association. The funeral service will be Tuesday, January 10, 1967, at 2:00 p.m. in the Nazareth Lutheran Church of Cedar Falls, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.  The family has indicated that a memorial has been established at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls. The flag will be flown at half-mast Tuesday afternoon, and the Campanile bells will be played during the time of the funeral service in memory of Mr. Wardin.
