Richard O. Nielsen, 60, of Walnut Court, died Sunday, January 12, 1997, at the Cedar Falls Western Home of cancer. Richard was hospitalized in early December due to complications resulting from his treatment for bone cancer.
Richard began his career at UNI in 1969 as a Custodian. He was a Custodian I in the Physical Plant his entire career at UNI.
He was born September 17, 1936, in Black Hawk County, son of Aage and Ester Jensen Nielsen.. He was a U. S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his mother; two sisters, Joyce Leslie of Saline, Michigan, and Julie Weseman of Waterloo; and a brother, David of Lovington, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father; and a sister, Nancy Nielsen.
Memorial services were held 11:00 a.m. Thursday; January 16, at Chapel of Memories-West, with burial in Garden of Memories.
