Former UNI prof, Price Lab teacher dies A former University of Northern Iowa professor and Malcolm Price Laboratory School teacher died last month at Eagle Crest  Rehabilitation Center in Ash Flat, Arkansas.  N. Marshall Schools, 96, died March 20, 2012.  She came to Cedar Falls and the university in 1949 when it was still Iowa State Teachers College. After graduating from Averett College, Mary Washington College, and what is now Vanderbilt University, Schools spent ten years as a coach and educator in Virginia.  In 1946, she joined the ranks of higher education at Bridgewater College, where she advanced from an instructor to assistant professor in physical education and health. She came to UNI as an assistant professor of physical education and stayed with the university until her retirement in 1976 as an associate professor with emeritus status.  During her time at UNI she was a teacher at the Malcolm Price Laboratory School; co-authored two physical education curriculum books, and staunchly advocated women's sports at both the state and district levels, according to her niece Libbie Geiger. In 1997, Schools established  the N. Marshall Schools Scholarship Endowment  Fund. Geiger said during Schools' retirement she remained an active community advocate and lover of animals.  Her pursuit of life-long learning and physical fitness kept her hiking, walking, canoeing, golfing; and winning at dominoes: "A model of strength, independence, and courage; she also knew how to laugh, have fun; and enjoy a good .party.  Cherished by friends and: family, she will be greatly missed by all who treasure the positive impact she has had on their lives," Geiger wrote in an email, to the Courier: A private celebration of life will be held in the future.  Memorials may be made directly to the N. Marshall Schools Scholarship Endowment Fund, University of Northern Iowa Foundation, 1223. W. 22nd Street, Cedar Falls 50614, or to a charity of choice.
