Naomi J. Schneider

Naomi J. Schneider, 99, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Western Home Communities, Martin Center. She was born November 8, 1904, in St. Joseph, Missouri, daughter of John E. and Maude Ott Manshardt. She received her B. A. in music from North Central College, Naperville, Illinois, in 1928, and she married Melvin F. Schneider September 14, 1940, also in Naperville. He died January 11, 1997. Mrs. Schneider taught school in Kentucky, Michigan, and Wisconsin, and for more than fifty years, she assisted her husband in teaching stringed instruments to grade school students. She also taught private piano lessons and was an organist at several churches. She was also a solo organist and accompanist in the area. Survivors include: two nephews, Dr. James R. Manshardt of Guadalajara, Mexico, and Dr. Richard M. Manshardt of Honolulu, Hawaii; a grandniece; two grandnephews; and special friends, James and Jeanette Winegarden of Cedar Falls. Preceded in death by: a brother; Donald O. Manshardt. Services: will be later with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation; she deeded her body to the Department of Anatomy at the University of Iowa. Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
