Cedar Falls--Joyce L. Jones, 76, of 1918 Tremont Street, died at home Thursday, March 31, of cancer. She was born July 3,1917, in Rapid City, South Dakota, daughter of the Rev. Benjamin I. and Fannie Cook Hubbard. She married Paul G. Jones on Nov. 27, 1937, in Carroll. Mrs. Jones was director of the social program at the University of Northern Iowa from 1955 to 1960, worked for the Cedar Falls Recreation Commission from 1960 to 1963, worked for the Conestoga Council for the Girl Scouts of America until 1968, then was deputy to the Black Hawk County Assessor, retiring in 1978. She was past president of the Cedar Falls Women's Club and United Methodist Women. Survived by: her husband; a son, Larry W. of Sioux Center; a daughter, Susan L. Thorman of Denver; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rene Scholes of Redlands, California, and Esther Buell of Marin County, California; and a brother, Keith Hubbard of St. Louis. Preceded in death by: a granddaughter; a sister, Myrtis Jacobs; and two brothers, Frank and Gordon Hubbard. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Richardson Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Monday at the church. Memorial: fund has been established.
