  CEDAR FALLS-Joyce W. McKinley, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, June 16, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. She was born December 4, 1936, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Bertha Struckman Pyer. She married James Bruns in 1955 and were later divorced. She then married William McKinley April 17, 1976 in Las Vegas, NV.  Joyce worked for the City of Waverly for twenty years and then worked for the University of Northern Iowa at Price Laboratory School in the Math department. Survived by: her husband of Cedar Falls; two sons, Kevin Bruns and Daniel (Carline) Bruns, both of Cedar Falls; three grandsons, Nathan (Julia) Bruns of Topeka, KS, Wesley (Staci) Bruns of Waverly, and Tyler Bruns of Waterloo; nine great grandchildren (soon to be 12) ; and sister, Janice (Norman) Shatzer of Waverly. Preceded by: parents and brother, Ross Pyer in infancy. Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the CedarLoo Church of Christ, with interment in the Fairview Cemetery both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Stephen the Witness Catholic Student Center in Cedar Falls. She had many close and lifelong friends from work and bowling. She loved to dance even though she struggled to get her husband on the dance floor.
