      Jon G. Norem (1938-2016) CEDAR FALLS — Jon Grant Norem, 77, of Las Cruces, N.M., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Aug. 12, due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He was born Nov. 28, 1938, in Minot, N.D., son of Grant and Helen Norem. He was married to Jean Dailey from 1962-1974. He married Kim Sorensen on Jan. 8, 1990. Jon graduated from Minot High School and the University of North Dakota. He taught accounting at the University of Northern Iowa from 1973-1990. During the 1987-88 school year, he taught at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand. He taught at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande, and moved to Las Cruces in 2014. Survived by: his wife, Kim; four daughters, Alane Minick and Lia Norem of Las Cruces, Joanne (Jay) Koweil of Waterloo and Lana (John) Griffin of LaGrande; grandchildren Jared and Justin Koweil, Drew and Kellen Minick, and Gavin and Grant Griffin; two sisters, Ardyth Norem of Las Cruces and Gail Buegler of Grand Junction, Colo.; and many loved in-laws, nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, David. Jon and Jean raised three daughters in Cedar Falls. When teaching in New Zealand, Jon met his wife, Kim. They moved to LaGrande, Ore., and raised a fourth daughter, Lia. They moved to Las Cruces in 2014.
