Allen, Benefits Coordinator SUBJECT: Obituary Notice DATE: January 22, 1997 John Sallis, 63, of 2605 Terrace Drive No. 6, Cedar Falls, died January 14, 1997, at home of natural causes. John began his career at UNI in 1979 as a Custodian. He was a Custodian I in the Physical Plant his entire career at UNI. He was born February 11, 1934, in Durant, Mississippi, son of William and Eula Mae Montgomery Sallis. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Willis and Victoria Willis, both of Los Angeles; six sons, Robert of Iowa City, Michael of Washington, D .C., Maurice, Christopher, and Richardo, all of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Jesse Hayes of Des Moines; 26 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a sister, Nola Mae Sallis of Waterloo; and two brothers, Clifton of Waterloo and Willie of Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Sallis. Memorial services were held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Waterloo.
