Allen, Benefits Coordinator SUBJECT: Obituary Notice DATE: February 29, 1988 Henderson Thomas, 65, died of cancer at the Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Iowa City on Saturday, February 27, 1988. Henderson began working at UNI on October 3, 1977, and was a custodian until his disability beginning in 1982 and subsequent retirement in 1984. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 1988, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Highway 63 North, in Waterloo. Henderson was born in Holmes County, Mississippi, on December 15, 1922, son of Willie and Minnie Thomas. He married Louise Hutchinson on November 27, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois. Henderson is survived by his wife of 411 Logan Avenue, Waterloo; four daughters, Mrs. Elnora Foster of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Sheila Russell of Waterloo, Mrs. Myrtle Carey of Waterloo, and Miss Ruby Thomas who resides at home; five sons, Ronald of Houston, Texas, Ricky of Waterloo, Steve of Waterloo, Dennis of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Henderson, Jr., who resides at home; three brothers, Saul of Detroit, Michigan, Edgar of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and J. B. of Chicago, Illinois; four sisters, Mrs. Adline Buchanan of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. May Bullocks of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Minnie Green of Peoria, Illinois, and Ms. Annie Thomas of Detroit, Michigan; 25 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. No memorials have been established.
