Mr. Harry S. Thode, who served for a number of years as Foreman, Transportation Division, Physical Plant Department, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 1971, at Sartori Hospital following a lingering illness.
Mr. Thode was born in Grundy County September 15, 1902. He was employed by the Behrens Buick Company from 1924 until July 1938, when he joined the staff of the University as a transportation division mechanic and bus driver. Mr. Thode was appointed transportation division foreman in September 1944. Mr. Thode continued in the position of foreman until April 7, 1971, at which time he retired from active University service.
Funeral services for Mr. Thode will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 15 at the Nottger Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. The flag will be flown at half-mast during the time of the funeral services in memory of Mr. Thode.
