Edward Wagner Edward Ferdinand Wagner, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo. He was born April 28, 1929, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, to Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Wagner. He earned a B. A. in botany from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and an education endorsement from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. His M. A. in library science was from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Mr. Wagner briefly taught at a high school in Wisconsin before coming to UNI, where he served as a reference librarian for thirty-seven years. He retired from UNI in 1994. He was a member of the Lions Club, American Library Association, and the University of Wisconsin 40-Year Graduate Club. He served as a corporal in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and was stationed for eighteen months in Nuremberg, Germany. He was an active supporter and patron of the arts in the Cedar Valley. He loved plants and flowers and had beautiful gardens. Survived by: his companion of many years, Verna Ritchie; cousins; and many friends. Preceded in death by: his parents and grandparents. Memorial services: next Sunday, September 21, 2008, at Mae Latta Hall in the Hearst Center for the Arts, Cedar Falls.
