Bernard L. Clausen

Bernard L. "Ben" Clausen, 73, of Cedar Falls, died Friday March 5, 2004, at Sartori Memorial Hospital. He was born July 9, 1930, in Delmar, New York, son of Ralph G. and Anna Ladu Clausen.  He married Dorothy L. Jackson June 29, 1968, in Fonda. Mr. Clausen served in the U .S. Army during the Korean War and was currently professor emeritus at the University of Northern Iowa, where he had retired in 1992 after thirty years of service. He was former assistant commissioner with Black Hawk County Soil and Water Conservation District, past director of Iowa Conservation Camp, and had been on the advisory board for Hartman Reserve Nature Center.  He received his B. A. degree from Colgate University, Hamilton, New York, in 1952, and his master of science degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1957. Survived by:  his wife of Cedar Falls; two sons, Scott B. of Easton, Maryland, and Stuart E. of Newport, Oregon; a sister, Christine Hakewessell of Holland, Michigan; his aunt, Harriet Bagley of Miles City, Montana; three nieces and four nephews. Preceded in death by:  his parents. Memorial services:  4:30 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls, with inurnment at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery, Delmar, New York.  The family will greet friends Monday at the church from 2:30 to 4 p.m.  Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
