Zierath, 71, died of cancer at Covenant Medical Center on Friday, December 8, 1989. Winnifred began her employment at UNI in October 1965 and last worked as a Food Service Supervisor in the Commons Dining Center. She retired in December 1981. Visitation will be at Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, December 11, 1989, and an hour before service time at the church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 1989, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. Burial will be in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls, after the services. Winnifred was born May 17, 1918, in Greene, daughter of John and Ina White Thompson. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1936. She married Donald C. Zierath on September 2, 1941, in Hastings, Minnesota. Winnifred is survived by her three daughters, Marilene Morgan of Neenah, Wisconsin, Nancy Zierath of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Deeanna Petersen of Round Rock, Texas; a son, Keith Hicklan of Cedar Rapids; two sisters; six brothers; and six grandchildren. Winnifred was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and a daughter, Judy Ann Zierath, both in 1982. Memorials may be made to the Cedar Falls Community Meals.
