Walter Petersen, retired employee of the University, passed away Friday, January 25, at Sartori Hospital. Mr. Petersen was born in Denmark on June 29, 1887, and came to this country in 1907. He was employed March 15, 1943, by the University, where he served as a custodian in the Old Central Building until his retirement August 31, 1957. Mr. Petersen is the father of Ruth Petersen, Supervisor of the Mimeograph Office. Services for Mr. Petersen will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 28, at the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls. Dahl-VanHove-Schoof Funeral Home will be in charge of the services with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. The flag will be flown at half-mast during the time of the funeral services, in memory of Mr. Petersen.
