Tomma Lou Maas

Tomma Lou Maas, 58, of Cedar Falls, died Monday July 1, 2002, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of metastatic breast cancer. She was born February 1, 1944, in Marion County, daughter of Tommy Louie and Mary Mae Sherwood Jordan. She married Randy Maas March 16, 1968, in Solon. Mrs. Maas received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and her master of arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for eleven years and was editor of the toy collector's newsletter for Ertl Toy Company in Dyersville. She was an adjunct instructor with UNI, Upper Iowa University, Wartburg College, and Hawkeye Community College. Mrs. Maas was also a private tutor and was a free-lance writer for the "Toy Farmer" and "Toy Trucker" publications. Survived by: her husband; her parents of Knoxville; a brother; Daniel Jordan of rural Pleasantville; and a sister, Dr. Rosalie Ackerman of Akron, Ohio. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with inurnment Monday afternoon at Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. There will be no visitation. Her body was cremated.
