Stanley Wood

Stanley G. Wood was born in Waterloo, Iowa, on January 31, 1909.  He attended Cedar Falls schools and received a bachelor's degree from the Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) in 1931.  He then taught at Guttenberg and Columbia High Schools in Iowa.  He received a master's degree in drama from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1946. Before joining the UNI faculty as an instructor of speech in 1946, Stan Wood taught drama at Rhode Island State College and the University of Vermont.  He was also on the staff of the Studio Theatre in New York City.  He received the Rockefeller Fellowship from the National Theatre Conference in 1946.  Stan Wood served on the UNI faculty until his death on September 15, 1976.  While at UNI, Wood was involved in more than 125 major theatrical productions. Professor Wood was survived by his wife Evelyn and two sons, David and Douglas. Funeral services were held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Cedar Falls, at 2 PM, Friday, September 17, 1976.
