                       Shirley Cropper WATERLOO — Shirley Travis Cropper, 89, of Waterloo, died Jan. 9 at Rosewood Estate in Waterloo. She was born June 30, 1928, in Waterloo, daughter of Ralph and Amy Verdenburgh Travis. She married Joseph C. Cropper on Oct. 11, 1951, in Waterloo. He died Aug. 8, 1996.   She graduated from Waterloo West High School, earned a bachelor of arts degree in music from Scripps College, and a master’s degree in earth science from the University of Northern Iowa. She was an adjunct faculty member in the Earth Science Department at UNI, teaching “Elements of Weather” and geology labs, retiring in 1993. She also taught private piano lessons in her home. Survived by: a son, Lee (Mary Pat) Cropper of Silverthorne, Colo.; a daughter, Amy (Bert Kreitlow) Cropper of Waukesha, Wis.; five grandchildren, Jessica Loosbrook, Keegan Fitzgerald, Quinn Cropper, Millie and Clara Jo Kreitlow; three great-grandchildren, Finnegan and Zoe Loosbrook and McKenna Fitzgerald; and nieces and nephews.Preceded in death by: a son, Travis John Cropper; and a sister, Maxine Louise Shirley.   Services: No services are being planned at this time. She deeded her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Richardson Funeral Service is assisting the family. Memorials in lieu of flowers: may be directed to Hartman Reserve Nature Center or Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center in care of the UNI Foundation in memory of Shirley Cropper.
