Martin, Vice-President and Provost Date: February 28, 1973 Robert James Dalziel, Assistant Professor of English, died Tuesday morning, February 27, 1973, in Sartori Hospital, apparently of a heart attack, Mr. Dalziel was born at What Cheer, Iowa, December 28, 1927. He graduated from Simpson College in Indianola in 1952 with the B. A. degree, and earned his M. A. in Education degree from UNI in 1958. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Dalziel served two years as an admissions officer at Simpson College from 1951 to 1953. He taught English for two years in the Newton Community Schools and two years in the Hammond, Indiana, High School. He joined the UNI faculty in 1959 and was promoted to assistant professor of English in 1962. He was a member of the National Council of Teachers of English and the Iowa Association of Teachers of English, Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, and the Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and two children, Robert Ray and Katherine Elise. Friends may call at the Nottger Funeral Home in Cedar Falls. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 1973, at the First United Methodist Church at Eighth and Washington Streets in Cedar Falls. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls. The flag will be flown at half mast and the Campanile bells will be played during the time of the service in memory of Mr. Dalziel. A memorial scholarship has been established with the UNI Foundation and those who wish may contribute to this fund in his name.
