Layle Ryan and his wife Roselyn, ca. 1940s Layle A. Ryan, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, January 14, 1998, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was born January 30, 1921, in Burr Oak Township, son of Frank and Julia Daley Ryan. He married Rosalyn T. Hauber on October 1, 1941; in Plymouth Rock. Mr. Ryan was employed at the University of Northern Iowa as a truck driver, retiring in 1970. Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Mary Carolan of Fairfield, Rosetta Sheda of Rochester, Minnesota, and Patricia Barta of Denver, Colorado; two sons, Steve and Earl, both of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Anna Grace DeCou of Decorah, Frances Ryan of Rochester, and Jean Headington of Austin, Minnesota. Preceded in death by: a son, Kevin Joseph; two brothers, Ed and Harold; and four sisters, Mae, Phyllis, Doris, and Donna. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary, 6 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary, and a 7 p.m. vigil service.
