Iversen, 67, of 1623 Schreiber Street, Cedar Falls, died on December 4. John died as a result of an apparent heart attack while driving his car in Cedar Falls. John started working for UNI in 1974 as a painter and continued in this same job until retiring in 1990. He was a partner in a paint contracting business prior to coming to work for UNI. John was a Korean War Army veteran. He was born on January 1, 1928, in Cedar Falls. His parents were John Christian and Anna Byvank Iversen. He married Marion L. Rusch on July 22, 1950, in Waterloo. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Debra Halverson of Des Moines, Deanna McGourty of Waterloo, and Dana Iversen of Cedar Falls; a son, Darin of Waterloo; six grandchildren; and a brother, Harold of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert. The services were on Thursday at the Christ Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls, with military rites conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
