Jerome VanDaele Jerome "Jody" Odiel VanDaele, 49, of Waterloo, died Sunday, September 11, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. He was born September 30, 1961, in Oelwein, son of Julius and Bettie Jane Fortsch VanDaele. Mr. VanDaele had been a secretary at the University of Northern Iowa. He graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1980 and from Wartburg College and UNI. Survived by: special friend, LeeAnne Kramer of Waterloo; a sister, Nancy (Larry) Holub of Fairbank; a brother-in-law, Casey Rechkemmer of Oelwein; a niece, Stephanie (Brian) Beesecker of Fairbank; and three nephews, Shane (Jessica) Rechkemmer and Addam Holub, both of Oelwein, and Scott Rechkemmer of Oran. Preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister, Beth Ann Rechkemmer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank. Memorials: may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
