H. Wendell Alford and his wife Adileen Homer Wendell Alford went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2011, at the age of 87. He was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church. H. Wendell is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Adileen Alford; son, Roger Alford (Jan) of Manor, Texas; daughter, Dianne Shaw (Barry) of Vestavia Hills, Alabama; four grandchildren: Wendy Bauer (Steve), Casey Obringer (Will), Mike Shaw (Shelley), and Tim Shaw (Tina); five great-grandchildren: Steven, Joshua, Melodi, Canon, and Madeline; brother-in-law, Ted Gavin (Arlene); and sister-in-law, Ruth Alford. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Hunter Street Baptist Church with funeral services following. Interment will be at Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale, Alabama.
