Donald Nelson, 69, of 1527 Prospect Avenue, Waterloo, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1939, in Wadena, son of Lawrence and Emma Bucholz Nelson. He married Donna Jo Sadler on September 28, 1974, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Dunkerton. Mr. Nelson was a groundskeeper at the University of Northern Iowa for twenty-one years, retiring in 1998. Survived by: a son, Jason (Karen) of Waterloo; a daughter, Julie (Wade) Bromwich of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Bonnie (Diane) and Roger (Jackie), both of Oelwein. Preceded in death by: a brother, Victor; and a sister, Betty Lou Nelson. Services: 7 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home. Public visitation from 4 p.m. until service time Monday.
