DeAlda R. Ackerman

DeAlda R. Ackerman, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, February 13, 2001, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of natural causes. She was born August. 25, 1917, in rural Dumont, daughter of Clarence E. and Lena Felsman Manifold. She married Hollis C. Overturf on April 18, 1934. He died April 24, 1960. She married Raymond Steward on February 23, 1966. He died June 30, 1984. She married Joe D. Ackerman on June 7, 1986. He died October 27, 1989. Mrs. Ackerman worked in the business office at Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) for many years, was the bookkeeper for Cliff and Holly Shell Station and owned and operated NEITA Raceway (Cedar Falls Raceway). Survived by: a daughter, Alma Heath of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Kate Swanson of Cedar Falls; and many stepchildren and stepgrandchildren. Preceded in death by: an infant brother; and three sisters, Lou Stock, Lucille Williams, and Marie Stamp. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Church of Christ, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove Schoof Funeral Home, with family present from 3 to 6 p.m. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
