David Ring Crownfield

                                                                                David Crownfield (center) David Ring Crownfield, 83, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Parkview Manor, Reinbeck. He was born June 24, 1930, in Brockton, Massachusetts, son of Frederic Rudolf, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Robbins Crownfield.  He married Eleanor Lyman Bostwick in Blairstown, New Jersey, on July 29, 1953, and they later divorced. He was emeritus professor of philosophy and religion at the University of Northern Iowa. Survived by:  three daughters, Elizabeth Eunice (John) Edminster of Jackson Heights, New York, Anne Bostwick Rider, and Eleanor Crownfield Ray of Iowa City; a grandson, David Ernest Ray; a brother, William Ritchie (Kathryn) of Greensboro, North Carolina; two nieces, M. Sue Kimmel and Heea Crownfield; two nephews, Grant Crownfield and Ritchie Crownfield; and his former wife. Preceded in death by:  his parents; two brothers, John Robbins and Frederic Rudolf, Jr.; and a son-in-law, Brandon David Ray. Memorial services:  10 a.m. December 7 at Quaker Group of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Black Hawk County, 3912 Cedar Heights Drive, Cedar Falls.  French-Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, assisted the family.
