Clara Twaddle Seerley

Clara Twaddle Seerley died of complications due to advanced age on November 13, 1934. Clara Twaddle was born at Rosehill, Iowa, in 1855. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School during the time Homer Seerley was superintendent. She and Homer Seerley were married in Oskaloosa in 1878. Both came to Cedar Falls in 1886 when Dr. Seerley became principal of the Iowa State Normal School. Dr. Seerley retired in 1928, and he and Mrs. Seerley lived on campus until his death in 1932. Mrs. Seerley continued to occupy the President's Cottage until her death. From an article in the Alumnus, January 1935, page 11.
