Bernice Helff, 90, died March 5, 1994, in Foxwood Springs Living Center, Raymore in Cass County, where she lived. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 1994, at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel; burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association. Miss Helff was born in Independence, and lived in Cedar Falls, Iowa, from 1950 until she returned to Independence in 1973. She was an associate professor of education at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls for 20 years, retiring in the early 1970s. She received a master's degree in education. She was a member of the Jackson County Historical Society. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Independence. Survivors include cousins . From a local newspaper obituary column.
