Bernard C. DeHoff

Bernard C. DeHoff, 74, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, February 7, 1999, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of natural causes He was born February 4, 1925, in York, Pennsylvania, son of George and Mamie Blauser DeHoff.  He married Ruth Myers on November 6, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. DeHoff was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He received a bachelor's degree from Franklin Marshall College, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and a master's degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana.  In 1955 he began teaching at the University of Northern Iowa in the English Department, retiring in 1995.  He also was a reporter for the Waterloo Courier for a number of years. Survived by:  his wife; two sons, Bradley of Cedar Falls and David of Marion; two daughters, Jane Carter and Patti Lorenzen, both of Cedar Falls; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by:  an infant brother, Donald. Memorial services:  11 a.m. Tuesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, preceded by a private family committal service at 10 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial fund:  will be established.
