Benjamin Fletcher Myers

      Benjamin Myers Benjamin Fletcher Myers, Jr., 71, of Interlochen, Michigan, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids. Michigan. He was born January 22, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio, son of Benjamin F. and Mary Irene Harshman Myers, Sr. After high school he earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Toledo, and a master's degree from Eastern Michigan University.  Mr. Myers taught at Warren Woods Public Schools and the University of Northern Iowa's Price Laboratory School in Cedar Falls.  He moved to Traverse City, Michigan, in 2000, where he was a member of St. Patrick Catholic parish, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and taught swimming at the Civic Center.  He received the 50-year Red Cross award for teaching swimming. Survived by:  his wife, Tina; three children, Jeffery (Jasmine) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Susan (Michael) Culver of Fraser and Douglas Myers of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Marc and Guille Myers, Michael Culver, Jr., Alex Culver, and Dalton, Dayton and Halie Myers; and the mother of his children, Geraldine Myers of Perrysburg, Ohio. Services:  noon Tuesday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City.  Public visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a 7 p.m. wake service.
