Web Archives
Special Collections & University Archives uses the web archiving tool Archive-It to capture and preserve web content that relates to and enhances existing collections within the Manuscripts Collections and University Archives.
SC&UA has used Archive-It since 2018 to capture web content, and continues to do so. This includes, but is not limited to, websites for publications or individuals whose papers we currently hold; ephemeral online, born-digital content such as university event calendars; and websites maintained by colleges, departments, centers and student organizations on campus. Special preference is given to content that enhances new and existing university archives and manuscripts collections; content that is ephemeral in nature and/or is otherwise challenging to document in traditional form such as print; content that represents current areas with few physical holdings in the University Archives; and content that provides documentation for SC&UA’s routine functions, namely previous iterations of SC&UA webpages.
Search and browse our archived web collections in the Internet Archive WayBack Machine at the UNI Archive-It page. Links to specific collections in Archive-It are found in relevant finding aids in Manuscripts and University Archives, and/or through the Digital Materials tab in ArchivesSpace.
As resources permit, SC&UA welcomes suggestions for additional websites and online content to capture using Archive-It! Send your suggestions to libarchives@uni.edu.
