Tillie Muller

Tillie Muller, 84, of Aplington, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at Maple Manor Care Center, Aplington, of natural causes. She was born April 11, 1921, in Aplington, daughter of Henry and Jantena Luppen Bakker. She married Jake Muller on November 21, 1945, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died December 2, 1963. Mrs. Muller worked as an operator for United Telephone Company from 1943 to 1946. She returned to work in 1955 and became chief operator in 1959. She worked at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, in the food services for eighteen years, retiring in 1986. Survivors include: two sons, Keith (Sue) of Cedar Rapids and the Reverend Terry (Laura) Muller of Adams, Nebraska; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: an infant sister, Alice; and four brothers, Fred, Harm, John, and Melvin Bakker. Services: 1:30 pm. Monday at First Reformed Church, with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, both in Aplington. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Chapel, Aplington, and for an hour before services Monday at the church. Memorials: maybe directed to the family.
