Robert S. Ostrem, 78, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 20, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following heart surgery.
Robert began his career at UNI in 1967 as a Data Controller. He held the position of Data Tech II when he retired in 1982.
He was born April 12, 1918, in Radcliffe, son of Sven and Rose Larson Ostrem. Survivors include two sons, Dave of Waterloo and Tom of Des Moines; a daughter, Judy Ostrem of Waterloo; a granddaughter; and three brothers, Frank and Arnold, both of Radcliffe, and Virgil of Eldora. He was preceded in death by a brother, John; and a sister, Lenora Tweet.
Memorial services were held Monday, April 24, at the Cedar Valley Community Church, with burial in Westview Cemetery, La Porte City.
