Ouida L. Bailey

Ouida L. Bailey, 82, of Green Valley, Arizona, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, November 20, 1997, at Carondelet Hospice Family Care, Green Valley, of cancer. She was born September 15, 1915, in Pembroke, North Carolina, daughter of the Reverend D. F. and Jesse Hatcher Lowry. She married S. David Bailey on June 6, 1942, in Cedar Falls. Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga, and received a master's degree from the University of Iowa. She taught in the biology department at Iowa State Teachers College in the 1940s and also taught at several Massachusetts secondary schools for thirty years. Survived by: her husband; a son, Lawrence D. of Stevenson, Maryland; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl Lowry of Des Moines and Bruce Lowry of Dallas. Preceded in death by: two brothers and three sisters. Memorial services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Green Valley Community Church. Green Valley Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
