Allen, Benefits Coordinator SUBJECT: Obituary Notice DATE: January 6, 1994 Marion E. Rekers, 76, of Cedar Falls, died at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Saturday, January 1, 1994, of natural causes. Marion began her career at UNI in March 1961 and worked as a Secretary II in the Department of Home Economics (now the Department of Design, Family and Consumer Sciences) until retiring in December 1979. She was born on June 28, 1917, in Algona, daughter of Fred and Eva Johnson Corey. She married Everett L. Rekers on July 2, 1939, in Algona. Survivors include her husband; a son, Richard C. of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Barbara J. Ubben and Carolyn L. Ubben, both of Cedar Falls; a sister, Helen Herzog of Anacortes, Washington; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, June Mawdsley, and two in infancy. Memorial services were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
