Madie G. Blum, 73, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 8, 2005, at Allen Hospital of natural causes. She was born June 27, 1931, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, daughter of John and Ida Lee Furr Seratt. She married Robert L. Blum October 5, 1952, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Mrs: Blum was a homemaker and was also employed by University of Northern Iowa food service for several years. Survivors include: her husband; four daughters, Donna Blum (Eric Schulstadt) and Loretta (Tom) Merron, both of Waterloo, Marnetta (Edman) Dillavou of Evansdale and Bobbie (Paul) Penning of Cedar Falls; eleven grandchildren, Nina Forcier, Kristin and Lindsey Merron, Amy, Laura, Daniel, Rachel, and Audrey Dillavou, April Ramirez, and Danielle and Wesley Penning; and eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Christian, Ethan Schaefer, Aurora Penning-Glynn, Blake Dillavou, Kaden Murty, Issac Ramirez, and Ely Aguilar. Preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, Percy and Charles; and two sisters, Nettie Seratt and Bette Noel. Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Wednesday.
