Lyle K. Alberts

Lyle K. Alberts, 66, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, of a stroke. He was born January 14, 1934, in Clear Lake, South Dakota, son of William F. and Hermina Tekrony Alberts. He married Joyce E. Grandgeorge on July 18, 1958, in Webster City. Mr. Alberts was a U.S. Army veteran. He received his bachelor's degree in 1958 and his master's degree in 1963 from the University of Northern Iowa. He taught in the Algona Community School System from 1958 to 1964, then taught in the Department of Political Science at UNI from 1964 to 1997, when he retired. He was past chairman of the UNI Credit Union and of the scholarship committee of the College of Social and Behavioral Science at UNI. Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Debra Ann Grummer of Ames; two sons, David W. of Mountain Lake, New Jersey, and Steven J. of Boston; and six grandchildren. Preceded in death by: two brothers, Alvin R. and Earl C. Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Commons Ballroom on the UNI campus, with inurnment preceding in Lincoln Township Cemetery, rural Grundy Center.
