Samson, Jr., Professor of Music, died at the Windsor Care Center, Cedar Falls, Thursday night, September 12, 1974, following a long illness. Professor Samson was born August 21, 1884, at Tama, Iowa. He joined the University of Northern Iowa faculty as a part-time instructor in music in 1916 and became a full-time teacher in 1923. He was the organist of the College Hill Interdenominational Church for many years. He was a member of the American Guild of Organists, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the Rotary Club, and was listed in Who's Who in Music. On March 31, 1913, he married Anna M. Nelson in Cedar Falls. Professor Samson is survived by his wife of the Windsor Care Center and his daughter Patricia of 507 Tremont Street. Professor Samson donated his body to medical research at the University of Iowa. Memorial services were conducted Sunday at the Dahl-VanHove-Schoof Funeral Home with the Reverend David Bluhm officiating. The family requests that any memorials be made to the UNI Foundation toward music scholarships.
