The college community was deeply shocked to learn of the sudden death of one of its new faculty members, Dr. Duane F. Blackwood, Associate Professor of Psychology, who died on Saturday, September 18, 1965.
Dr. Blackwood came to S. C. I. from Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts, where he taught psychology and worked with students with psychological problems. He had also been on the faculty at West Virginia University, Idaho State College, Ohio University, and Ohio State University.
Dr. Blackwood was born in Baltimore on May 13, 1924, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Blackwood. He graduated from high school in Philadelphia, received his bachelor's degree from the College of Wooster, and his master's and doctor's degrees from Ohio State University.
Dr. Blackwood was not married at the time of his death. He had married and adopted a boy, but had been divorced for some time. His mother and two sisters survive.
The funeral will be in Cincinnati at a time as yet undecided. The flag will be flown at half-mast on Monday and on the day of his funeral.
