Diederich "Dick" Hempen, 60, of Parkersburg, died Saturday, April 27, 2002, at Meeker County Memorial Hospital, Litchfield, Minnesota, of natural causes; survivors include his wife, Judy; a son, Kurt of Parkersburg; a daughter, Kristy Lammers of Allison; four grandchildren; and a brother; Gaylan of Clarksville; he was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Leona Hempen; and a brother, Ronald; services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg; friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Parkersburg; memorials may be directed to his family; Mr. Hempen farmed and was a boiler operator at the University of Northern Iowa Power Plant, Cedar Falls.
