Christopher M. Hernandez April 8, 1979 - March 28, 2016 Christopher M. Hernandez, 36, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, March 28, 2016, at Sartori Hospital. He was born April 8, 1979, in Waterloo, the son of Richard and Marilyn Kortenkamp Hernandez.  He graduated from Columbus High School in 1997 and was employed as a Research Technician for the Iowa Waste Reduction Center at the University of Northern Iowa. He was also employed as a bartender at Landmark in Cedar Falls. Survivors include: his father, Richard (Tawni) of Raymond; his mother, Marilyn (Jim) Van Pelt of Marion; his brother, Jason of Waterloo; his two step-sisters, Branden Patten of Cedar Falls and Shelley (Scott) Hagenson of Lake Mills; his step-brother, Mike (Angie) Van Pelt of Marion; his girlfriend, Kelsey Delp of Cedar Falls. Preceded in death by: his sister, Anna Hernandez; his maternal and paternal grandparents. Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein. Public visitation from 2-8 P.M. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. There will not be visitation at the church on Saturday. Memorials: may be directed to the family.
