Betty Helene Hibbs Tjepkes

               Betty Tjepkes Betty Helene Hibbs Tjepkes, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. She was born July 31, 1917, in Omaha, Nebraska, daughter of Dr. Andrew and Anna C. Larsen Nelsen.  She married Walter E. Hibbs on May 29, 1938, in Omaha, Nebraska.  He died November 28, 1970.  She married William W Tjepkes on December 16, 1983, in Cedar Falls.  He died December 12, 1995. Mrs. Tjepkes had worked as secretary at First Baptist Church, Cedar Falls, and in the admissions office at the University of Northern Iowa.  She was a member of First Baptist Church and the American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. Survivors include:  two sons, Dale (Kristin) Hibbs of Iowa City and William (Jan) Hibbs of Belleville, Illinois; a daughter, Betsy Hibbs of Des Moines; a stepson, Kendall (Linda) Tjepkes of Dike; three grandchildren, Annie Hibbs of Belleville, and Jonathan and Matthew Hibbs, both of Iowa City; and two step-granddaughters, Lori (Brian) Parker of Woodbury, Minnesota, and Tiffany (Don) Kennedy of Bettendorf. Preceded in death by:  a son, 2nd Lieutenant Robert J. Hibbs; a granddaughter, Julie Daker; two brothers, Verner and Viggo Nelsen; and a sister, Ellen Morrison. Services:  1:30 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.  Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the chapel.
