Arleen La Vonne Schreiber

               Arleen Schreiber Arleen La Vonne Schreiber, 84, of Newhall, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Lutheran Home, Vinton, of sudden cardiac arrest. She was born March 21, 1929, in La Porte City, daughter of Max Carl and Laura Adel Rundel Schreiber, and throughout her childhood was reared in seven foster homes. After graduating from Waterloo West High School in 1948, she was employed at Peoples Bank & Trust (now Wells Fargo), Waterloo.  Later she was employed in the Waterloo offices of Rath Packing Company; Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation branch office in Waterloo; St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Student Center, Ames; Prudential Insurance Company, Waterloo; and Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Waterloo.  While at Goodwill, she attended and graduated from Gates Business College, Waterloo, in 1966.  She had been a secretary for twenty-four years at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, retiring from UNI in 1990.  She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Newhall, and the Legion of Mary. Survived by:  a sister, Mildred Burris of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Jesse Love of Lafayette, Indiana; nineteen nieces and nephews; numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; a foster brother, Larry Allgood of Odin, Minnesota; and numerous extended Allgood foster family members. Preceded in death by:  her parents; two brothers, La Verne "Sox" and Harold E. "Mike" Schreiber; and three sisters, Bernadine Hay, Naomi Mae Gunn, and Vola, in infancy. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Newhall, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in West View Cemetery, La Porte City.  Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.
