7-12-96 UNI HIRES NEW TICKET MANAGER CEDAR FALLS--
The University of Northern Iowa has hired Paul Zakowski as its new ticket manager, replacing Doug Kangas, who resigned in June. Zakowski begins his new position Monday, July 15, 1996. Zakowski graduated from Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration. After graduation, he worked as a group merchandiser for Montgomery Ward Company, in Des Moines, and as an account executive for Illinois-based Ingram/Commtron. He also was an account executive at GE Capital/Rescom in California. In 1995, he received his Master of Science degree in Sports Management from Western Illinois University, while working as a graduate assistant in the Leatherneck ticket office. At the time of his UNI appointment, Zakowski had served as assistant ticket manager at East Tennessee State since last August, where he coordinated ticket sales and operations for all home athletic events. He also was responsible for all day-to-day operations of the ticket office.
