John Warren Walton, 79, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of natural causes. He was born August 3, 1922, in Jesup, son of Jesse Thomas and Frances Maritta Miller Walton. He married Darlene Knuths on March 27, 1943, in Burlington. Mr. Walton served in the U. S. Army Air Corps in World War II, was a salesman for Standard Battery and Electric, and worked for University of Northern Iowa Plant Services from 1965 until retiring in 1986. He was past president of AFSCME Union Local No. 2659.
Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Judy Walton of Brownsville, Texas, Jacquie Knievel of Red Wing, Minnesota, and Jessica Walton of Prescott, Arizona; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: a daughter, Janet Lewis; three brothers; and eight sisters.
Services: family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date.
Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Arboretum or Cedar Bend Humane Society.
