DUNKERTON - Chris Toneff, 71, of Dunkerton, died Friday, Jan. 26, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, Waterloo. He was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Waterloo, son of VJ and Rose Dragonava Toneff. He married Colleen Kay Sadler on June 5, 1976, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Barclay Township. She died April 6, 2016. Chris was a member of the U.S. Army as well as the Peter Kress American Legion Post 636 in Dunkerton. He worked as a pipe fitter at the University of Northern Iowa until his retirement, and was also a lifelong farmer. Survivors: a daughter, Cindy (Dave) Pint of Jesup; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Toneff of Dunkerton; a son, Chad (Jessica) Toneff of Dunkerton; seven grandchildren, Dylan Thorn, Brooklyn and Kaden Pint, Delaney and Reegan Toneff and Calen and Alison Toneff; parents-in-law, Lawrence and Genevieve Weiden Sadler of Dunkerton; a brother, James of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two sisters, Mary Ann Miller of Dewar and Patricia Smyers of Hendersonville, N.C.Preceded in death by: his wife; a son, Chris J. Toneff; and a brother-in-law, Dennis Miller. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Barclay Township where full military rites will be conducted by the Peter Kress American Legion Post 636 at the conclusion of the service. Private family inurnment in St. Francis Cemetery, Barclay, will take place at a later date. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty.
