Gordon A. Timpany, 66, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of pancreatic cancer. He was born June 2, 1934, in Janesville, Wisconsin, son of James and Hattie Honeysett Timpany. He married Mary M. Carney on August 23, 1958, in De Pere, Wisconsin.
A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Timpany received his bachelor of education degree in 1956 from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and his master of arts degree from the University of Minnesota in 1966. He was an assistant professor in the College of Business Administration at the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1997. Mr. Timpany held various leadership roles in the American Red Cross, was a state chair for the Business Youth Group at both high school and college levels, and was faculty advisor and held various leadership roles in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at UNI.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Mark of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Carrie Hill of Des Moines; a grandson; a step-granddaughter; a brother, Alistiar of Janesville, Wisconsin; and two half sisters, Evelyn Roehl of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Isabelle O'Connor of Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Preceded in death by: three half brothers, Harry, George, and Edward Hallett, and four half sisters, Alice Bucholtz, Marian Webb, Jeanette Ziebort, and Genevieve Paspodus.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, with entombment in Mount Olivet Mausoleum. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
Memorials: may be directed to the Hawkeye Chapter American Red Cross Building Fund or the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Building Fund at UNI.
