Eleanor Joy Starr, 76, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at Sartori Memorial Hospital of a heart condition. She was born August 24, 1922, in Mechanicsville, daughter of Lester M. and Hattie Cother Nicoll. She married Frank W. Starr on June 11, 1944, in Mechanicsville. Mrs. Starr received a bachelor's degree in 1943 from Iowa State Teachers College and taught English and drama in the George, Lake Park, and Scranton school systems. She then was employed by the University of Northern Iowa for twenty-seven years, retiring in 1984. Survived by: her husband; adopted family, Dale and Deborah Rueber of Jesup; three grandchildren; a sister, Esther Glenn of Olin; and a brother, Howard Nicoll of Peoria, Arizona. Preceded in death by: a sister, Norma Jean Picht. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Richardson Funeral Home, with family present from 2 to 4 p.m. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.
