Dr. Michael O. Rod, Assistant Professor of Accounting, passed away on Friday evening, October 9, 1987. Mike received his B. A. degree from Luther College in 1968 and a Master's degree from UNI in 1972. He joined the UNI Accounting faculty in 1972 with a teaching emphasis in Managerial Accounting. While teaching, he continued his education and received his doctorate from the University of Minnesota in 1984. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, a son, Erik and a daughter, Amy; and his parents, Donald (former Head of the UNI Library), and Elsie Rod, and a brother, John and a sister Cathryn. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church. A Michael Rod Scholarship in the Department of Accounting has been set up at the UNI Foundation.
MICHAEL O. ROD
Michael Olaf Rod was born November 14, 1946, in Ames, Iowa, the son of Donald O. and Elsie V. (Siemers) Rod. He married Joyce M. Buss August 25, 1973, in Denver, Iowa. He had been an Army Intelligence Service Officer serving in Viet Nam. Michael received a bachelor's degree in 1968 from Luther College, a master's degree in 1972 from the University of Northern Iowa, and his doctorate in 1984 from the University of Minnesota. Michael was on the board of directors of The National Accounting Association and was an elder and member of Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife; a son, Erik M. and a daughter, Amy C. Rod, both at home; his parents of Cedar Falls; a brother, John T. of Overland Park, Kansas; and a sister, Cathrine M. Rod of Grinnell. Michael entered into rest on Friday, October 9, 1987, in Cedar Falls. SERVICES: Tuesday, October 13, 1987, 11:00 a.m., Nazareth Lutheran Church.
